The annual meeting and 53rd anniversary show are held. Howard Brody (Tampa, FL) resigns as the president and is replaced by Jim Miller (McKeesport, PA). A.J. Styles wrestles Christopher Daniels for the first time. World heavyweight champion Steve Corino faces Shinya Hashimoto.
12-15 McKeesport, PA
Shinya Hashimoto defeats Steve Corino and Gary Steele in a round-robin match to win the held-up world heavyweight title.

Ron Killings defeats Ken Shamrock to become the first African-American to be officially recognized as the world heavyweight champion by the NWA.

The annual meeting and 54th anniversary show are held. Richard Arpin (Parkersburg, WV) replaces Jim Miller (McKeesport, PA) as the president. Ron Killings defeats Hotstuff Hernandez to retain the world heavyweight title.

J Sports & Entertainment, parent company of NWA: Total Nonstop Action, was renamed “TNA Entertainment” after Panda Energy International acquires the controlling interest in the promotion.

10-10 ~ 11 Parkersburg, WV
The annual meeting and 55th anniversary show are held. Bill Behrens (Georgia) replaces Richard Arpin (W. Virginia) as the president. Neither world heavyweight title nor world tag team title, both now controlled by TNA, are defended.

Dick Hutton, former world heavyweight champion, passes away.
2004
NWA introduces the sub-member system such that each full member can have affiliate/associate members, who have no voting power in the organization, within the assigned territory.
10-15 ~ 17 Winnipeg, MB, Canada
The annual meeting and 56th anniversary show are held. Local member Ernie Todd replaces Bill Biehrens (Georgia) as the president. Jason Rumble defeats the champion Jerrelle Clark and Vance Desmond in a 3-way match to win the world junior heavyweight title. Once again, Neither world heavyweight title nor world tag team title are defended although TNA sends Petey Williams who defeats Kenny Omega to retain TNA X Division Title.
2005

Ernie Todd (Winnipeg, MB, Canada) resigns as the president and leaves the NWA in the following month.
10-07 ~ 08 Nashville, TN
The annual meeting and 57th anniversary show are held. The Board of Executives retires the position of the president, and Robert K. Trobich, the legal counsel for NWA, is assigned as the Executive Director. Fergal Devitt (Finn Balor) defeats Dru Onyx to win the British Commonwealth heavyweight title. The Naturals (Andy Douglas & Chase Stevens) defeat Eric Young & Cassidy Riley for the vacant/held-up world tag team title. Christie Ricci defeats the champion Lexie Fyfe and Tasha Simone in a 3-way match to win the world women’s title. The world heavyweight title is not defended.
2006
No anniversary show is held.
2007

The working agreement between NWA and TNA ends, and NWA strips Christian Cage and Team 3D of the world heavyweight and tag team titles respectively, just few hours prior to TNA’s PPV event “Sacrifice” in Orlando, FL. Kurt Angle defeats Cage and Sting in a 3-way match to win the world heavyweight title without the NWA recognition.

“Reclaiming the Glory”, the 16-man tournament for the vacant world heavyweight title, kicks off. The first round matches take place in three different locations.
07-08 McAllen, TX
Joey Ryan & Karl Anderson defeat Sicodelico Jr. & Incognito and then Billy Kidman & Sean Waltman to win the world tag team title which has been vacant since the termination of the working agreement between NWA and TNA.
08-18 N. Vancouver, BC
Brian Danielson defeats Adam Pearce in the semi-final of “Reclaiming the Glory”.
09-01 Bayamón, PR
Adam Pearce, replacing the injured Brian Danielson, defeats Brent Albright in the final of “Reclaiming the Glory” to win the vacant world heavyweight title.
2008

David Marquez, a Los Angeles, CA member, and Blue Demon Jr. create “NWA Mexico”. Along with NWA executive director Bob Trobich, they eventually start making complaints to CMLL, a former member promotion which has recognized “NWA” world titles in light heavyweight, middleweight, and welterweight divisions, over the usage of the name.
06-07 Atlanta, GA
The 60th anniversary show is held. The world heavyweight title is not defended. The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express (Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson) defeat the Midnight Express (Dennis Condrey & Bobby Eaton) in the main event.
08-30 Malden, MA
Wladek Kowalski (Killer Kowalski) passes away.
