Pinkie George’s first wrestling show fails

The Des Moines Boxing Club, headed by Pinkie George and Dave Fidler, announced their first wrestling show to be held on 1931-02-17 at the Coliseum with Joe Savoldi and Jack Kanoche facing each other in the main event. However, the show was cancelled when fewer than 400 persons were in the building.

George would then start running shows in Waterloo in November.

Ten years after his failed attempt, George establishes Sports Enterpries, Inc. around 1941-02 in Des Moines and starts running the weekly outdoor shows at the Riverview Park. Rudy Strongberg pinning Abe Kashey in the main event of the inaugural card on 05-31.
